Nightmare in the Air New Health Scare XDR TB

TB Scare, where did it come from a very rare strain of this disease, the question is if he had no symptoms and if it can pass from one person to another are there others out there with this disease? - This TB is called XDR. And here are some of the facts of this disease.

The new strains are rarer than MDR TB, but they appear to be more deadly. Patients with XDR TB are 64% more likely to die during treatment than patients with MDR TB, the CDC reported in March.
When patients with XDR TB also have HIV, however, the picture is yet grimmer. South African researchers reported in July at the World AIDS Conference on 53 patients co-infected with HIV and XDR TB. Despite the use of antiretroviral drugs, most of the patients died within a few days of diagnosis and the outbreak eventually killed all but one.
Treatment and diagnosis of TB, however, made some progress in 2006. Researchers at Harvard proposed a shorter treatment regimen – two months instead of the standard six – that they said could dramatically reduce the burden of the disease in developing countries. But the idea, based on a mathematical model, depends on rapid expansion of therapy with existing drugs and new medications.

More important there were reports of this disease going back as far as March 2007 where people were being affected in other parts of the world but there was little said in the media for fear that it would cause a panic. please view the report below:

Please note that in this report there are over 30,000 infected within New York. within the press agencies there are reports of the disease in New York here is a quote and a link to the publication which covered this issue;

ust two days after a report at the American Thoracic Society meeting of a rampant XDR-TB problem in India, other investigators said at the same forum that Indian immigrants had already boosted the XDR-TB burden in New York.

"With time we will find it in every country," said Charles L. Daley, M.D., of National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, who presented an overview of the issue to pulmonologists. "We just have to look for it." Please click here for the full article.
In a Sept 2006 article there were autopsies being order on the workers who died working on the grounds of the WTC. Here is what that report stated in part and click here to read the full article.

The AP reports that a new plan from the federal government calls for autopsies to be conducted on Sept. 11 workers after they die. The autopsies will help determine whether exposure to toxins at ground zero led to their deaths.
The autopsy guidelines, which were submitted for review by outside experts on Sept. 15, follow the release last month of treatment guidelines for sick workers, issued by New York City health officials.

The draft autopsy guidelines from the federal government describe which parts of the lungs should be examined, and urge the creation of a "tissue bank" so that certain organs and body fluids are preserved for later testing.

Tissue and fluids should be collected not just from the dead, but from the living, the draft said.

"Ideally, this 'tissue banking' system would also be able to accommodate biopsy specimens taken as part of diagnostic workups on patients, since such specimens could be as, or even more, informative than autopsy specimens," the draft says.

Dr. Robin Herbert, co-director of the Mount Sinai Medical Center program that found thousands of ground zero workers were still sick 2 1/2 years after the attacks, said the release of the guidelines is an important step as the government decides what to do about the ongoing illnesses among firefighters, police officers, and construction workers.

A recent study conducted by the Mount Sinai Medical Center found that 70% of 9/11 responders and workers are suffering from respiratory problems.

Because of the very large amount of people who were effected from lung related disorders and the fact that there is currently a health risk from XDR TB could there be a connection to this disease of the people in New York who came in contact with huge amounts of particles which impacted on their lungs on 9/11?

On the D'Anne Burley Show Monday featured on truthradio we will be talking to experts in the area of lung related diseases on that program. Please tune in for more on this issue.
